Through my conversations with friends, family and mere acquaintances lately there appears to be a common thread to our discussions.  I believe it’s an evil presence of darkness, an oppression, a heaviness that permeates our very being.  This darkness affects everything from our mental and emotional health to our fatigued bodies and weakened immune systems.

There’s illness, death, depression, broken relationships within our families and good friends and much more.

Jesus tells us in John 10:10 the thief’s (satan’s) purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.

When we are impacted by the world’s darkness (we who belong to God) can have HOPE!  That HOPE is in Jesus – who is the WORD the LIGHT of the World.

First, let’s establish that Jesus is the WORD.

The Apostle John tells us in John 1:1-4

In the beginning the Word already existed.
    The Word was with God,
    and the Word was God.

He existed in the beginning with God.

God created everything through him,
    and nothing was created except through him.

The Word gave life to everything that was created,[a]
    and his life brought light to everyone.

Next, let’s establish that Jesus is the LIGHT.

John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

John 8:12
Jesus, the Light of the World
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

John 12:46

I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.

So if the light (Jesus) shines in us and through His Word to illuminate our dark cloud of feelings, fear, sadness and anxiety, the answer is to SOAK in His Word constantly.

We are in a war of good verses evil.  We already know we have won the final battle ~ and praise be to God – He has provided us with HIS WORD to equip us for our daily battle of life.

So friends  ~ Let’s keep ourselves daily in the Word so can not only live in the light ourselves but bring others into the LIGHT also.
